Bernard E. Loveman

1920-1921

Bernard Emanuel (or Emil) Loveman was the third President of the Chattanooga Council for the year 1920, and served again as President in 1922 as the fifth council president.  He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver award in the first class of 1931.


Loveman was President of D.B. Loveman's department store and President of Loveman Bank in Chattanooga.  Bernard was the son of D.B. Loveman.


David Loveman II received the Eagle Scout award in 1923.

He was born March 14, 1874.

He married his wife Hilda in New York in 1909.

In the 1910 Census, Loveman was listed as "Merchant" in "Dry Goods."

In the 1920 Census, Loveman was listed as "VP and Manager" of Department Store.

In the 1930 Census, Loveman was listed as President of Department Store.  His family at the time included wife Hilda, sons David and Bernard E. Jr., and daughter Hilda.

His death certificate reflects a middle name of "Emil" while his marriage record says "Emanuel."  It also says his occupation was "Realtor."

Loveman died on June 21, 1941 in Chattanooga and is buried at Forest Hills Cemetery.
